Oakland Dog Trainer
In April of 2008 Mr. Ed Brown located in Oakland contacted Bay Area Dog Trainer regarding dog training for his Pit Bull Blacky. “I am looking for an Oakland Dog Trainer because my dog Blacky has aggression problems towards other dogs. My veterinarian had recommended Bay Area Dog Trainer for my dog and was very impressed with the dog training program so, I am contacting you for dog training advice and help. Blacky is a very good dog most of the time except when there are other dogs in the area. He just wants to get to the other dog especially when he’s on leash and is very hard to control. This makes it hard to give him the exercise that he needs. I have read dog training books that talk about different dog training methods but, I think that I need the private dog training lessons from Bay Area Dog Trainer. Help!”…
In my time as a bay area dog trainer, I have seen more problem cases related to not properly socializing a dog at a young enough age. It is especially important with powerful breeds to start a good dog training program as soon as possible and socialize your puppy with people and other dogs while they are still easily influenced. There are a lot of things that we can be working on with our puppy even though we can’t work on the more advanced part of dog training until the dog is at least sixteen weeks or older. Your Veterinarian can explain what diseases puppies can contract easily so, you should be careful when socializing a puppy until they are completely vaccinated.
Leash Aggression is also a big problem. This is simply related to the Fight or Flight Theory in dog training. If a dog feels restrained by a tight leash then avoiding a situation if it arises is out of the question in the dogs mind so, fighting is the next choice. Loose-Leash Walking and Heel are very important tools in dog training.
Please remember that by setting down the proper rules and guidelines in a way that dogs understand plus giving your dog some structure, constancy and repetition with exercise and discipline followed by affection and reward after participating in a good dog training program, you will be not only polishing your leadership skills but, will simply be giving your dog a balanced life that will just lead to good dog behavior.
I’m happy to say that after participating in my dog training program Blacky is now socializing and playing with other dogs.
